Ruha Benjamin

Ruha Benjamin is Associate Professor of African American Studies. Her work investigates the social dimensions of science, technology, and medicine, with a focus on the tension between innovation and inequity. Ruha is the author of People’s Science: Bodies and Rights on the Stem Cell Frontier (Stanford University Press), and is at work on three new projects—Race After Technology (Polity), a book about machine bias, discriminatory design, and liberatory approaches to technoscience; an edited volume, Captivating Technology (Duke University Press), which examines how carceral logics shape social life well beyond prisons and police; and finally, The Emperor’s New Genes, a project that explores how population genomics reflects and redraws socio-political classifications such as race, caste, and citizenship. She is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships including from the American Council of Learned Societies, National Science Foundation, Institute for Advanced Study and most recently the 2017 President’s Award for Distinguished Teaching at Princeton.

Roni Habib

Roni Habib is an expert in helping educators become more mindful, connected, and playful. The founder of EQ Schools, he leads workshops and speaks in schools nationally and abroad.

Roni started his teaching career in Boston and taught many different subjects from Math to History for 15 years with his favorite subject being Positive Psychology. Early in his career, Roni struggled with the high stresses and demands of teaching even losing touch with why he wanted to be a teacher in the first place. It was so painful that he finally discovered the power of integrating mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and positive psychology in his own life as well as in his classroom and felt called to share this new approach with the world.

Nontombi-Naomi Tutu

As the daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Naomi Tutu struggled to find her own place in the world. As a human rights advocate, she pulls from her personal challenges of growing up black and female in apartheid South Africa.

Her professional experience ranges from being a development consultant in West Africa, to a program coordinator for race and gender-based violence in education at the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town. In addition, Tutu has taught at the University of Hartford and Brevard College in North Carolina. She also leads workshops on conflict resolution and racism.

In addition to speaking, Tutu is a consultant for the Spiritual Alliance to Stop Intimate Violence (SAIV), founded by renowned author Riane Eisler and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Betty Williams, and the Foundation for Hospices in Sub-Saharan Africa (FHSSA).
