What Administrators Need to Know about the California School Dashboard: Connecting Data to Performance

Stories from the Field: Best Practices for Maximizing Results | Part II

Participants will leave with a greater understanding on the importance of applying for new preschool slots to serve more eligible children and how you can locally overcome existing barriers. Early Childhood Education Funding Opportunities & Policy Changes | Part I

The Association of California School Administrators and the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association have partnered with the California Department of Education to provide an overview of relevant information portion of the 2018-19 state budget related to early childhood education programs, including the California State Preschool Program and Transitional Kindergarten. This includes new funding opportunities for the expansion of state-subsidized preschool programs, as well as modifications in state law intended to improve access for children with exceptional needs and to provide greater flexibility to blend four-year-old children enrolled in CSPP with children in Transitional Kindergarten. Participants will learn how to leverage these opportunities to increase access to more eligible children. Speakers will answer questions from the webinar registrants and audience. ESSA State Plan Draft Reveal

In partnership with the California Department of Education, and as part of the 30-day public comment period, join this conversation to get a preview of California’s draft Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) State Plan as the state attempts to align its work into one single, coherent local, state and federal accountability and continuous improvement system.

The draft plan is anticipated to be released on May 22. The State Board of Education looks forward to a robust discussion over the coming months with the goal of submitting California’s ESSA State Plan to the federal government by September 2017. This webinar will be an opportunity to get an overview of the key elements of the federal plan, provide your input and share your questions on these important issues.

Local Capacity Building and California Collaborative for Educational Excellence

The 2016-17 state budget appropriated $20 million in one-time funding to the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) to establish a statewide process to provide professional development training to county offices of education, school districts, and charter schools regarding the use of the LCFF evaluation rubrics for the development and implementation of a local educational agency (LEA) LCAP, and how the evaluation rubrics may be used to improve pupil outcomes and close the achievement gap for unduplicated students. In collaboration with CCEE staff, join this conversation to learn how the evaluation rubrics and the LCAP may be used to establish a system of continuous improvement within an LEA.

LCAP Annual Update Template Redesign Effective 2017-18

At its November 2016 meeting, the State Board of Education is expected to approve revisions to the LCAP and Annual Update Template for the 2017-18 school year. The Board is moving toward adopting a “static” LCAP template (effective for an inclusive three year period) instead of a “rolling” LCAP template (adding another year into the plan at the time of the annual update), with the goal of promoting strategic educational planning over multiple years. The revised version also includes an “LCAP Summary” section that maximizes accessibility of the LCAP’s content for stakeholders and the public. Join us for this webinar to get a preview of the revised draft LCAP and Annual Update Template as your school district and school sites get ready for the local community engagement process for the next cycle. This will be an opportunity to solicit input from district and county office of education staff and other administrators who complete LCAPs and those who participate in the LCAP process.

SBE Local Performance Indicators

The California State Board of Education (SBE) adopted key components of the state’s new accountability and continuous improvement system. The LCFF evaluation rubrics are the cornerstone of the new accountability system and include state and local performance standards for each LCFF priority. The SBE approved a methodology for establishing standards for the LCFF priorities that are not addressed by the approved state indicators (referred to as local performance indicators), as well as a standard for local climate surveys. Please join co-hosts ACSA, CASBO, CCSESA and CSBA for a webinar on the local performance indicators. The interactive webinar will provide a review of the purpose of, and explain each local performance indicator. Webinar participants will be asked to provide feedback regarding their existing data collection process and the existing tools being utilized to determine progress on each of these LCFF priorities and to give suggestions for making the indicators most useful to their operations.

LCFF Evaluation Rubrics and New Accountability System

ACSA staff will solicit input from webinar participants that will help inform ACSA’s recommendations to the State Board of Education before it takes action in September.
