Improving Student Achievement Through Supervision for Quality Instruction of English Learners: A Follow-up to Teacher Observation and Feedback
English Learners require instructional strategies designed to meet their unique needs. ACSA and the New Teacher Center are partnering to present a specialized workshop that will support administrators in building the necessary skill that will facilitate their English Language Learners academic achievement.
This two-day workshop serves both beginning and veteran site leaders. Participants are introduced to resources, tools, and background needed to observe and support best practices for English Learner success. Participants observe numerous video lessons and use effective, research-based tools and techniques to deepen coaching and feedback skills directed at improving the effectiveness of ELL instruction in all k-12 classrooms.
Desired Outcomes:
- Examine profiles of English Language Learners and the stages of language learning
- Review current research around effective programs and practices that meet the needs of English Language Learners (ELL)
- Provide site administrators with tools and strategies to help you effectively supervise for best practices in ELL instruction
- Determine program implications of the California ELD standards for k-5, 6-8 and 9-12
- Contextualize the workshop for participants in order to analyze the practice of one of your own teachers
- Understand terms and vocabulary for English Learner programs
- Acquire assessment and differentiation strategies for English Language Learners
Cost of Program: For the following event dates listed below, registration is $475 per person, or $375 when registering groups of three or more. This fee includes participant's manual, continental breakfast and lunch for three days.
