ACSA is continuing its quest to improve education at its foundation through learning and teaching.
ACSA believes strong teaching and learning leads to strong curriculum and instruction, assessment and accountability, and improving state and local efforts to close the achievement gap.
ACSA has been working on implementing five key goals established by its Learning and Teaching Task Force: redefining roles and providing additional operational help; establishing an informational hub for research; providing coaching and mentoring networks; impacting learning and teaching through increased capacity; and remaining vigilant on state policies.
The idea is to take a proactive as opposed to a reactive stance in this key area of education. In order to ensure California offers a world-class education to its students now and in the future, it is imperative school leaders take an active role in shaping its direction.
Another key component is leadership capacity. The future of California’s education system depends on educational leaders who have the skills, time and resources needed to lead instruction. It is up to today’s leaders to nurture the future generation of exemplary leaders.
Part of this process is communication. ACSA must ensure its members, and all educators, have the learning and teaching resources they need, delivered in an appropriate way. ACSA is also working to ensure members and the public are aware of its focus on learning and teaching.
