Executive Leadership Coaching

Provides intensive, contextualized, one-on-one support to:

  • Experienced, successful superintendents seeking professional collaboration and guided reflection to revitalize, refresh, refocus, and extend leadership capacity
  • Experienced, successful superintendents in transition to new districts
  • Experienced superintendents seeking to add new resources to their skills and background
  • New superintendents

Utilizes will-researched Blended Coaching strategies developed by UC Santa Cruz New Teacher Center.

Is focused upon achievement of the Board's goals for the superintendent as well as other needs and desires of the superintendent served by the program.

Is designed to deliver highly individualized leadership development though consultation, collaboration, reflection, and building of capacity.

Builds upon a superintendent-coach relationship founded upon a high level of professional ethics, appropriate confidentiality, competence, and trust.

Conveyed by carefully selected, trained, certified, successful, recently retired superintendents whose leadership experiences closely match the challenges faced by the coachee.

Program services include:

  • On-site coaching services approximately once every two weeks as arranged by the superintendent and coach
  • E-mail and/or telephone availability between sessions
  • Securing information, contacts, and other resources as requested and appropriate
  • Individualized goal orientation achieved through collaboratively defined services and time lines to ensure the superintendent's needs are met
  • Utilization of Blended Coaching tools including:

-    Collaborative logs
-    Reflective self-assessments
-    360 degree instruments
-    Observations in setting appropriate to goals, which may include:
    -    School & classroom visitations
    -    Staff/cabinet meetings
    -    Community meetings/events
    -    Evaluation conferences
    -    Governing Board meetings
