AB 430 is designed, and funded by CDE, for K – 12 school site administrators – principals and vice/assistant principals. Other school administrators may take the training at district or personal expense. (back to top)
Not exactly. ACSA’s AB 430 training is offered to clients (typically school districts or county offices of education) who contract for training for approximately 20 participants or more. ACSA negotiates group sizes with clients on an individual basis as necessary.
ACSA is very willing to work with the school districts of individuals contacting ACSA for training to see if a district or regional training can be coordinated. (back to top)
Participants are responsible for completing all AB 430 training requirements within a two-year time frame (a year is considered to be a school year). Within that time, participants must attend all hours of Institute training and complete all Practicum requirements for each module. (back to top)
Participants certified by their districts as completing all of the requirements for ACSA’s AB 430 training program will receive a letter and certificate of completion from ACSA. Certification may be used to file for the Tier II Professional Administrative Services Credential. (back to top)

Trainers
ACSA’s AB 430 trainers are ACSA members and leaders who are practitioners regarding the principalship. ACSA’s trainers are highly successful in providing professional development for ACSA Institutes, Academies, etc. ACSA trainers are often leaders on statewide ACSA Councils and Committees. - Providing a location and making corresponding arrangements for the training

School district or county office of education AB 430 coordinators receive a specially developed ACSA AB 430 Coordinator’s Guide that includes guidance, Practicum examples, and all of the required forms for the completion of training requirements and certification. (back to top)
Funding and Training Costs
School site administrators (principals and vice/assistant principals) with at least one year of experience are eligible for AB 430 funding. The district’s AB 430 coordinator is the person who may apply for funding on behalf of the district’s eligible participants at the Management System for Administrator Training (MSfAT). The district receives all AB 430 funding. (back to top)
School districts may choose to fund non-school site administrators through other funding sources, but they may not use CDE’s AB 430 incentive funds. Individuals seeking AB 430 certification for whom AB 430 funding is not available may pay for AB 430 training costs themselves. (back to top)
School districts approved for funding receive $3,000 per eligible participant. $1,500 of that amount is intended to support Module 2 and 3 training. ACSA’s training rate is discounted to $1,400 per participant (or $700 per participant per module). The cost savings are available to school districts to use in supporting their AB 430 participants.
Example: A school district with 20 participants taking ACSA’s AB 430 Module 2 and 3 training would save $2,000 ($100 per participant x 20 participants). (back to top)
