Frequently Asked Questions

How do I place a print job ad in the EdCal JobBoard?
You place an ad online through an easy-to-use web form on our online Career Center, http://careers.acsa.org (click the tab on the homepage labeled "Career Center" or go directly there using the link).
You will need to create an employer profile the first time you place an ad. After that, you will be able to quickly log in to place future ads or to make changes to your employer account.

Are there instructions available for how to place a job ad?
Step-by-step instructions, complete with screen shots to follow, can be found here, or through a link at www.acsa.org/jobboard (one page back).

How do I find out about JobBoard ad sizes and cost?
For complete information, including terms and conditions, read the JobBoard Rate Card. For a quick reference of ad sizing and pricing, check out the JobBoard sizes and prices at-a-glance.

How many times will my ad run in EdCal?
It’s entirely up to you; the ad cost is per issue (with one-time typesetting or late fees), so you can choose to publish your ad in one issue or 10. When you place your ad, you have the option to select the issue dates in which you want your ad to run. EdCal is published weekly with the exception of certain non-publish dates throughout the year. A current publication calendar is available here.

Do I have to create an employer account?
Yes, the first time you place an ad through the online system you are required to create a free employer account. It's a simple process, and once you have created the account you can use all the features our Career Center offers. Creating an account does not commit you to any purchases.

Why can't I just fax an Ad Request Form or buy an ad through EdJoin, like I could before?
We upgraded our system and created our online Career Center as a comprehensive and growing resource for both employers and job seekers. The Career Center offers extensive features for employers, including saved print ad templates for easy ad placements, résumé searches and records of the ads you have purchased in the past, all easily accessible through your account.
We also now offer affordable online job listings, which allow you to provide unlimited information about the position you are advertising as well as web links, and the free, convenient service of online applications.

Will my ad appear online when I request a print ad?
No; when you place a print ad in the EdCal JobBoard, it will only appear in the print edition of the newspaper for the weeks you request. You have the option of purchasing a low-cost online job posting on our online Career Center. For more information, see our Products & Pricing.

What if I want to create an ad myself and email it to you as a PDF?
Instead of emailing your ad, you are asked to upload it in one step as you fill out the online request form. Only PDF files are accepted.

What if I want to have you typeset my ad?
Simply choose to have your ad typeset (your additional typesetting fee will automatically be added to your total at the bottom of the screen). You will have the option to upload a logo, include text to be included in the ad, give us any special instructions and even choose a design template from the options provided.

Can I see and approve my typeset ad before it's published?
Because the turnaround for the EdCal JobBoard ad typesetting and layout is so short and our personnel limited, we are not able to let you see and approve your ad before it is published. If you are concerned about the way your typeset ad will look, we recommend that you create the ad and submit it to us as a print-ready PDF, rather than have our staff typeset it.

When is the deadline for placing an ad in the EdCal JobBoard?
The Monday prior to publication at 9 a.m. PST (EdCal is published on Mondays; the placement deadline is a week in advance). Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. you can still place an ad, but you will be charged a $50 late fee. After 1 p.m. on Monday, the issue is closed.

What if I need to change or cancel my ad?
Ads can be edited or cancelled for no charge up to Tuesday at 1 p.m., or 24 hours after the final deadline. After Tuesday at 1 p.m., we may be able to pull your ad from the issue but you will still be charged for the full price of the ad. See the rate card for complete advertising terms and conditions.

Who do I contact if I have questions that aren't answered here?
Contact the JobBoard coordinator at jobboard@acsa.org or (916) 329-3829.
