The Integrated Leadership Development Initiative (ILDI) is a cross-agency partnership that focuses on collaboratively guiding and supporting leadership development and improving conditions of leadership so that there are highly accomplished leaders in every district and school in California. ACSA is a part of this partnership. The call for improved student achievement has led politicians and educators to look, once again, at principal effectiveness as a critical lever in transforming education results. The purpose of the attached ILDI report is to review and relate what research does and does not say about principal evaluation systems. ACSA has been focused in the area of principal evaluations this year prompted by the policy discussions in the Legislature concerning teacher and leader effectiveness as well as the work of ACSA's ESEA Task Force. ACSA will be sharing the ILDI report statewide and starting conversations about how California can improve and support effective principal evaluation practices and policies.
