The ACSA Board of Directors, working with the search firm Leadership Associates, has issued an invitation for creative, well-qualified, successful education leaders to apply for the position of executive director.
The EdCal JobBoard this week features the first call for applications for a chief executive officer to drive the state’s largest association representing the interests of California’s students and education leaders.
The ACSA Board seeks candidates with a passion for public education who embrace the rich diversity of California students; are visible, accessible and approachable; and demonstrate a strong work ethic, integrity, honesty and credibility, among other personal qualities.
A candidate’s professional profile should include successful leadership experience at the school, district and state levels; knowledge of California and national educational issues and the willingness to invest considerable time circulating and communicating at the state and federal levels; and a willingness to explore innovative approaches to meeting the goals of the ACSA Strategic Plan and seeks input to allow for modification and growth.
Leadership Associates Consultants James Brown, Don Iglesias, Peggy Lynch and Rene Townsend, each of whom has extensive experience at the top levels of education management, are working to recruit qualified candidates.
The consultants will screen applications and recommend candidates to the ACSA Board for interviews and further consideration.
Any contact with board members, in an attempt to influence the selection process, will be considered a breach of professional ethics. Board members reserve the right to visit a candidate’s current work place and community prior to a final decision.
Salary will be competitive and based upon qualifications and experience. A multi-year contract will be considered.
To be considered, a candidate must provide:
• a fully completed application form;
• letter of application;
• résumé; and
• three current letters of recommendation.
A full description of the position can be accessed at www.acsa.org/positiondescription.
