Lead 3.0 to offer cutting edge technology information

The Leadership 3.0 Symposium, set for April 14-17 in Santa Clara, is a special technology event designed by school leaders, for school leaders.

Attendees will learn ways technology can be and is being used to not only assist schools and districts to work efficiently, but also to close the academic achievement gap, differentiate instruction, increase collaboration and maximize motivation.

Of the more than 35 Leadership 3.0 breakout sessions, one that is certain to be of interest is “Leading with Movies,” presented by Bob Price, superintendent of Empire USD. Price will show how powerful, visionary or humorous video clips can help school leaders during presentations.

Price will review a series of video clips he has amassed over the years, a copy of which will be provided to all attendees. These clips will help provoke lively conversations for issues that educators may be presenting. Videos can serve as icebreakers as well.

Price presented this session at ACSA’s Leadership Summit, and it was so popular he was asked to return for the recent Superintendents’ Symposium. Now Lead 3.0 attendees will have a chance to see what the buzz is all about.

In another session, “Using Google Docs to Increase Collaboration, Manage Your School, and Increase Student Achievement,” Todd Roth of Orange USD will share how his district has used Google Apps to create truly collaborative professional learning communities, go green with discipline referrals and logs, manage RtI, and remind parents of events through multiple methods.

An additional symposium highlight will be the keynote address by Yong Zhao, a distinguished professor at the College of Education, Michigan State University. Zhao is also the founding director of the Center for Teaching and Technology, the executive director of the Confucius Institute, and serves with the U.S.-China Center for Research on Educational Excellence.

Zhao is the author of “Catching Up or Leading the Way,” a book changing the debate about what’s wrong and what’s right with American education and where we should be heading. Zhao’s presentation, “American Education in the Age of Globalization,” will use his own experience as a student in China and as a parent of children attending school in the United States to debunk conventional wisdom, while setting straight the recent history and current state of U.S. schools.

The symposium is a collaborative effort of ACSA, Computer-Using Educators, and the Technology Information Center for Administrative Leadership. Any school leader interested in ensuring that all students are prepared for the future will not want to miss the Leadership 3.0 Symposium. Click here for more information, or to register online.
