The ACSA Member Services Committee believes that recruitment is everyone’s business and would like to recognize the members who shared the value of membership and brought new education leaders into the association in 2009-10.
Among the best practices employed by top recruiters are:
• Make personal contacts with new and potential members within 30 days.
• Recognize new members or new administrators in region newsletters and at region events.
• Identify non-members in the region and invite them to join. Tools to help recruiting efforts are available by cicking here.
• Make membership an active part of all region activities.
• Collaborate with Member Services Representatives to coordinate membership activities and find unique ways to use AIG Retirement’s $2,000 in sponsorship funding.
• Invite state-level leaders and staff to give presentations at region and charter events.
• Be creative – think outside the box!
• Personalize (tell your story).
• Customize – gear your message to your audience.
• Empathize – put yourself in their shoes and try to relate.
• Make an effort to contact new members six times a year, with an e-mail, phone call or handwritten note.
• Just ask! A majority of nonmembers say they never joined because no one asked.
• Provide incentives.
