ACSA, the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators and Total School Solutions are partnering to offer a one-day seminar Feb. 17 at the Sheraton Grand in Sacramento.
The event will focus on closing the achievement gap for African American students and will highlight best practices from around the state from schools where African American students meet and exceed proficiency targets.
Teachers, principals and district office administrators from select schools will explain how they have set high expectations for all students, provided access to challenging curriculum in English language arts and mathematics, then supported and guided students toward success.
A significantly disproportionate number of African American students fall below the proficiency level as measured by the California Standards Tests, and the achievement gap between Caucasian and African American students persists in the state. Addressing this issue is a top priority for educators throughout California.
Please save the date to participate in this informative event. The cost is $125, but those attending the CAAASA State Conference in Sacramento, held the following two days, can get a $50 discount. Information and registration will be available at www.totalschoolsolutions.net.
