Become more active in ACSA at the region, state, charter levels
ACSA involvement at the state, region and charter levels can increase your satisfaction on the job and help position you for the future. Opportunities for involvement include leading a committee or council, as well as becoming an elected officer, a member of the Board of Directors, or a representative on the Delegate Assembly.
New revenues needed to fix budget deficit
A new Legislative Analyst’s Office report supports the Education Coalition’s call for increased revenues, and warns of inaction as the state budget deficit could hit $27.8 billion. The report warns that it is no longer possible to resolve the staggering budget crisis without raising taxes.
Leadership Institute offers training for principals
Leadership Institute is developed by principals working at the New Teacher Center. The content is more comprehensive, and it is exclusively focused on the role of the principal. Session modules are embedded in daily work.
Negotiators symposium offers excellent value in lean times
In tough times, the importance of contract negotiations gets magnified. That is why the upcoming 2009 ACSA Symposium for Negotiators is so crucial. Held Jan. 21-23 in San Diego, the symposium will inform, educate and upgrade the skills of management negotiators.
Distinguished Schools criteria expanded
Narrowing the achievement gap among underrepresented students is now required criteria for schools to become California Distinguished Schools. For the 2009 cycle, eligible middle and high schools are invited to participate.
Superintendents examine issues of trust at ELC Institute
During the Executive Leadership Center Institute “The Power of Trust: Building Relationships that Create Great Organizations,” superintendents will have an opportunity to examine the characteristics of successful leaders and the principles and strategies they use to earn the confidence of people they work with.
