Joe Jones, Assistant Executive Director of Member Services and Professional Standards
Provides supervision and direction to Member Services Department staff, Special Services staff, Professional Standards staff, Member Service Representatives, and Region Consultants. Raises awareness of ACSA membership benefits and services via presentations at region and charter meetings, district functions, etc. Works with districts on strike plans and provides work stoppage assistance when necessary. Monitors member satisfaction and responds in an effort to maintain and retain members. Also serves as the Staff Executive to the Member Services Committee.

Margarita Magliocco, Manager, Member Services, Marketing & Promotions
Responsible for the development and implementation of all membership marketing and outreach efforts pertaining to the recruitment and retention campaign. Staff Executive to the Equity, Achievement and Diversity for Success Committee, collaborates with the Member Services Committee and field staff, and is responsible for the team of staff who manage and maintain sensitive member data in ACSA's three offices.  Outside her regular responsibilities within Member Services, Margarita also oversees special projects like the Board approved Diversity Action Plan which is designed to diversify overall membership and leadership; the Successful Schools Project which has the intention to build a clearinghouse for strategies and a network of contacts on closing the achievement gap; and the planning of ACSA's second largest conference, the Special Education and Diversity Symposium.

Carlota Cabrera, Membership Processing Supervisor
Responsible for the management and maintenance of the membership database; billing and collection of dues and PAC contributions; reporting of member data (dues and PAC billing records, member demographic information, as well as that of schools and districts within California). Generates output of member data in the form of reports, lists, labels and electronic data. Performs a broad range of secretarial/general office/accounting and record keeping duties related to the School Administrators Special Services (SASS) insurance and other membership service programs. Maintains the SASS database (receives notification and takes action to initiate, terminate or modify insurance coverage for members of ACSA and ACCCA). Resolves problems regarding coverage, premium payments and related matters, terminating insurance and preparing premium refunds. Also maintains membership lists of affiliate groups.

Maria Haase, Member Services Specialist
Interprets and evaluates applications for appropriate membership categories. Researches and processes membership applications for cash pay, changes of address and dues data to keep membership database as accurate as possible. Corresponds with ACSA members regarding dues, work locations, titles, etc. Responds to inquiries and requests from members, prospective members and staff. Renews memberships and bills districts for dues.

Cynthia Melendez, Member Services Specialist
Interprets and evaluates applications for appropriate membership category. Researches and processes membership applications for payroll deduction, changes of address and other input to keep membership database as accurate as possible. Responds to inquiries and requests from members, prospective members and staff. Corresponds with ACSA members regarding dues, work locations, titles, etc. Processes and coordinates payroll deduction for membership dues. Processes Institutional and Personnel Commission membership applications.

Janis Rawlins Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Executive Director
Tracks retiring or lost members and obtains information on new work locations for members about to be terminated. Coordinates mailing of monthly membership reports, Emeritus packets, and recruiter certificates. Responds to inquiries and requests from members, prospective members and staff. Coordinates ACSA exhibit booths at outside educational tradeshows and at in-house professional development workshops. Functions as the exhibit coordinator for the Every Child Counts Symposium.  Also manages the travel and calendar of the Assistant Executive Director and provides support to Member Services Manager.

Karina Hurtado, Member Services Specialist
Tracks members work locations and researches discrepancies in monthly payroll deductions of ACSA dues, PAC and national dues. Coordinates ACSA payroll deductions with district payroll offices when members transfer from one school district to another. Researches and performs collections on past due accounts, responds to ACSA member inquiries regarding dues, work locations, etc. Acts as assistant to the Member Services Manager.

Joanne Godfrey, Ontario Office Manager and Professional Standards Coordinator
Primarily responsible for providing clerical assistance to six professional standards advocates and maintaining the Professional Standards Case File. Staff Executive to the Member Services Committee.

Professional Standards Advocates
Respond to members’ concerns about job-related due process. Serve as a liaisons to job-alike state committees, provide in-service to districts on employer-employee relations and professional assistance, and assist districts with strike preparation. Prepare reports and communicate to the Assistant Executive Director about any potential problem situations.

Member Service Representatives
Provide assistance to region leaders and membership chairs in developing membership goals. Identify non-members in districts within their service areas. Promote the value of ACSA membership to all administrators and to those new and aspiring. Conduct presentations on member benefits and services. Act as resources for both members and non-members and connect them with their colleagues.

  • Outreach to urban areas and creating more consolidated charters.
  • Improving strategies and processes geared toward membership retention.
  • Developing and implementing effective research and marketing mechanisms to seek out potential members.
  • Increasing total membership by 300 new members.

Professional Standards:

  • Continue to provide inservice training to six professional standards advocates and one support staff to ensure satisfactory service to members.
