ACSA has more than 400 members working on committees, councils and special groups, such as task forces. Committee and council activities are critical to the impact ACSA has on education in California and the nation. If you are interested in being considered for appointment to a state committee or council, previous participation on a region committee is advantageous. The procedure is:
Write a letter to your region president providing the following information:
• your name, work address and social security number;
• the name of the committee on which you would like to serve; and
• past ACSA involvement.
Nominations are made to the state ACSA president by each region president:
• To implement affirmative action and assist in job-alike balance, region presidents are requested to submit two names for consideration for each vacancy.
Appointment is made by the state president:
• Nominations for the appointment must be presented to the state president by March 1 of each year.
Ratification of the appointment is by the Board of Directors.
Note: Several committees, councils and special groups (including task forces) have their own procedures for member selection and appointment. These include ACSA/CAPEA, Leadership Summit, Small School Districts, Urban Education, NCLB Task Force and Learning and Teaching Task Force. Contact state ACSA for information on membership in these groups
